Description:
3M™ Cold Shrink Connector Insulators 8420 and 8430 Series are useful as primary electrical insulation for all solid dielectric (rubber and plastic) insulated wire and cable splicing rated to 1000 V, both indoor and outdoor. They are often good in providing physical protection and environmental sealing for communication and other non-electrical applications, including sheath repairs. Operating temperature range is -40°C to 90°C (-40°F to 194°F). In applications where the product is continuously exposed to UV radiation it is good to overwrap with e.g. 3M™ Scotch® Super 33+™ Vinyl Electrical Tape or 3M™ Scotch® Self-Fusing Silicone Rubber Electrical Tape 70.
Advantage:
- Specially designed for primary insulation of solid dielectric insulated wires and cable splicing rated to 1000 volts
- Simple installation which requires no tools
- Sealing of terminal lug barrels, conduit couplings and conduit-to-cable breakouts
- Made of EPDM rubber which contains no chlorides or sulfur
- Covers a wide range of cable cross sections
- Withstands temperatures of -40 to 90 degC (-40 to 194 degF)
- Environmental sealing for communication and other non-electrical applications
Recommendation:
- Primary electrical insulation for all solid dielectric (rubber and plastic) insulated wire and cable splices
- Insulation of secondary splices copper or aluminium conductors and inline conductor transition connectors
- Dig-in and sheath repairs
